I adapted the short poem "Jenny Kissed Me" after a relationship with a "Jenny" of my own ended in 1981.

Verse 1
D F
Jenny Kissed Me, when we met
C G D
Rockin in the chair she sat in...all alone
D F C G
O' time you thief, I know you love to get, fools on your list, but I'm not one
D
so don't write me down
F D
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad.
F D
Say that health and wealth have missed me
F C D
Say I'm growin' old but add, add that Jenny kissed me.

At first unwilling, but now I'm able to speak

The last days I spent with her, I was feeling mighty meek.

But, liik at me now, I got through it all anyway.

You see, Jenny was my lover then, but she's not here today.

Jenny was my lover then, but now she's just my friend.

Someday I'll get over her, but not without some more cry-in.

Jenny was my lover then, but now she's just my friend.

I remember the times spent with her. They were the best that have ever been.
